The creation of the stunning scenery at Dropmore Park began on the day that Lord Grenville took possession of Dropmore Lodge in 1792 with the planting of two cedars of Lebanon on the lawn. He began the outdoor redesign work with focus on two main areas: the creation of a formal landscape around Dropmore House and the inception of its now rare and renowned Pinetum. Grenville also undertook remodelling the grounds, which included the moving of a hill that blocked the view of Windsor Castle and the creation of two ornamental lakes and a root mound. His brother assisted in developing the grounds by supplying 2,500 trees to the estate, some of which still stand.
